The retired UFC fighter opened up about the incident on the "Diary of a CEO" podcast.

Poirier said he started drinking because it was Father's Day and he felt depressed thinking about his own father.
Before heading to the airport, he had a great day with his kids, and his daughter wrote him a letter.

During his travels, he had a few glasses of champagne, which escalated.
He drank two glasses on his flight to Atlanta and more champagne and shots during a layover.

By the time he reached his gate, his memory became fuzzy. He doesn't want to watch body camera footage to avoid seeing how he disrespected agents and officers.
Poirier has deleted his social media to escape commentary. He hopes to reconnect with the officer involved to thank him for doing his job.
