A security guard saw a crowd gathering outside the club and heard someone say, "The next white (expletive) that walks out, I'm going to hit her."
Shortly after, the victim walked through the area and was jumped by a group of women.
Another witness, who said they didn't know anyone involved, heard someone yell, "Any white girl can get it," followed by "Free Karmelo" just before the attack.

The security guard broke up the fight and helped the victim escape. Court documents say she suffered injuries to the back of her head and right eye.
Ciarrianne Fuller, Dejae Brown, and Alana Mumphrey, all 21, are charged with assault causing bodily injury.
Police say the victim identified the suspects through social media.

Detectives also found a social media post allegedly made by one of the women before the incident that read, "takin' fades for Karmelo all day today," which they interpreted as a reference to seeking out fights.
Detectives recovered a text thread containing video of the assault that spread online. One alleged participant reportedly wrote, "we shouldn't have done that (expletive) bro."
Authorities are monitoring social media chatter about possible retaliation and are coordinating with the FBI, but say there is no broader threat to public safety.
