A fresh leak from Weibo indicates that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will receive notable battery upgrades, with capacities varying by region.

The European model, which retains a physical nano-SIM slot, is rumored to house a 5,235 mAh battery.

That represents an increase of about 412 mAh, or roughly 8.5%, over the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The US variant, expected to be eSIM-only, could jump to 5,425 mAh from 5,088 mAh, a boost of around 6.6%.

These figures align with an earlier leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, who had predicted the Pro Max would finally surpass the 5,000 mAh threshold.

The physical SIM tray in some markets takes up internal space, explaining the regional differences.

Comparison with previous models

  • iPhone 17 Pro: 3,998 mAh (EU) | 4,252 mAh (US)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 4,823 mAh (EU) | 5,088 mAh (US)
  • iPhone 18 Pro: 4,056 mAh (EU) | 4,288 mAh (US)
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: 5,235 mAh (EU) | 5,425 mAh (US)

Samsung's current Galaxy S26 Ultra matches the iPhone 17 Pro Max on paper but typically delivers shorter real-world endurance.

The upcoming S27 Ultra is rumored to get a 5,500 mAh battery, its first capacity upgrade since the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Chinese brands have already made 7,500 mAh batteries common in flagships like the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Oppo Find X9 Pro, and OnePlus 15, outperforming both iPhones and Galaxies in battery tests.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max, powered by the new 2nm A20 Pro chip, is expected to launch in September 2026.
