Katy Perry's highly anticipated set at Werchter Boutique was abruptly canceled on Saturday due to severe weather and crowd safety concerns.

The pop star revealed she was already backstage preparing when she learned the show could not go on.

In an Instagram post, Perry explained the cancellation was a government-mandated decision due to incoming inclement weather.

"Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can't happen due to a government mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns," she wrote.

Perry expressed her disappointment, noting she was in the middle of hair and makeup when the news was delivered.

"I was backstage at the show in the middle of hair and makeup when this news was delivered, and they gave me no choice.

I am just as unhappy as you are," she continued.

The singer emphasized the decision was beyond her control, prioritizing the safety of the 55,000 attendees.

"Unfortunately this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost," she added.

Perry also shared her disappointment about missing the show, having looked forward to returning after 17 years.

She apologized to fans and joked that she had planned to wear the same outfit from her 2009 appearance.
