According to Ximitime, out of 112 devices expected to receive Android 17, 108 have entered HyperOS 4's internal testing phases.
Notably, no Android 16 device appears on the list, suggesting Xiaomi is not preparing a HyperOS 4 build for the older OS.
Shift in software strategy
Historically, Xiaomi has offered its latest HyperOS skin to some devices running older Android versions.
For instance, HyperOS 3 was released to many devices on Android 15, albeit with limited features.
However, this time Xiaomi may be changing its approach.
The latest information suggests that HyperOS 4 will ship exclusively with Android 17, and this trend might continue.
While there is no official confirmation, the move could be driven by efforts to reduce R&D costs, similar to other Chinese brands.
