Sean "Diddy" Combs' name has surfaced in the Tupac Shakur murder trial, but sources close to the imprisoned mogul are pushing back.
A former LAPD detective testified that Diddy allegedly tried to pay for Tupac's execution, but the money never reached the intended recipient.
In response, sources tell TMZ, "Diddy had absolutely nothing to do with the Tupac murder. He did not pull the trigger or set it up."
The testimony came from ex-LAPD detective Daryn Dupree, who said he interviewed Duane "Keefe D" Davis about the 1997 murder of Biggie Smalls.
Dupree testified that Davis claimed Diddy owed him money and was supposed to give it to an associate named Zip, who would then pass it to Davis.
The money never reached Davis, according to Dupree's testimony.
Dupree also said Davis told him Diddy solicited Tupac's murder during a conversation at Greenblatt's Deli in Los Angeles.
TMZ reached out to Diddy's camp but has not received a response yet.
The trial continues with day 5 of testimony today.
