Nothing is gearing up to release the Nothing OS 5.0 update, based on Android 17.
The beta program is already live on select devices, with a stable rollout expected in a few weeks.
Most Nothing phones are eligible for the upgrade, but three models are not.
These devices have already received the major OS updates promised at launch, so they are no longer eligible for further OS upgrades.
Phones That Won't Get Nothing OS 5.0
The unsupported devices are the Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Phone 2, and CMF Phone 1.
The Phone 1's last OS is Android 15, while the Phone 2 and CMF Phone 1 will remain on Android 16.
Although the Phone 2 and CMF Phone 1 won't receive Android 17, they will continue to get security patches until mid-2027.
The original Nothing Phone 1, however, has reached the end of its life.
If you're still using the Nothing Phone 1, it's advisable to upgrade to a newer model.
You're not only missing out on the latest features but also on security patches that protect against threats.
Users of the Phone 2 and CMF Phone 1 should also consider upgrading to continue receiving Nothing OS updates, which typically bring visual upgrades and new features.
