Brian Hickerson, Hayden Panettiere's on-again, off-again boyfriend, spoke about their relationship just months before her sudden death.
In an interview with TMZ in May, Hickerson described Panettiere as "the sweetest thing in the world."
He said, "It's not about who you spend Saturday night with, it's about who you spend all Sunday with, and Hayden Panettiere is a Sunday girl."
Panettiere was found dead on a Sunday in a South Carolina apartment complex, three months after that interview.
The cause and manner of death have not been determined, but dispatch audio from the 911 call mentions a possible overdose.
Hickerson's Reflections
When asked if Panettiere was better off without him, Hickerson said he would be an "idiot" not to walk away and let her flourish in her career.
He called her the most talented person he'd ever met and said they "probably wouldn't be good together."
Hickerson also expressed excitement to see what she would accomplish in the next 30 years of her career.
Panettiere had been looking forward to a fresh start, saying on a podcast that she had "a lot more life to live."
Hickerson said Panettiere would always hold a special place in his heart.
