Mark Zuckerberg is facing criticism after his yacht reportedly failed to assist a small boat that ran out of fuel in Southeast Alaska.
The incident occurred last Monday night when a cruise ship diverted to help a 21-foot skiff in the area.
Michael Love, a passenger on the cruise ship, claimed on social media that the captain announced Zuckerberg's yacht was closer to the skiff but did nothing to help.
Love said passengers began booing when they learned the billionaire's yacht was nearby yet offered no assistance.
He also suggested Zuckerberg missed a chance to "do something helpful for someone in need and maybe get some good PR out of it."
Yacht's Position and Response
According to the Alaska Beacon, Zuckerberg's $300 million, 387-foot yacht Launchpad stopped near the skiff in Farragut Bay, based on vessel tracking data.
The cruise ship then reportedly sailed around the Launchpad and towed the skiff to safety.

Coast Guard stated there was a general request for assistance, but no distress call from the boat.
A representative for Zuckerberg responded, saying he and his family were not on board at the time.
The rep added that the boat was not in distress, and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel, the assist was already underway.
The rep concluded, "We're grateful all parties are safe."
