Los Angeles Chargers legend Shawne Merriman believes Justin Herbert's recent engagement to Madison Beer won't derail the team's Super Bowl hopes.
In fact, he says the quarterback should now aim for two rings.
Herbert and Beer made headlines this week when the pop star was seen playing with his hair during training camp.
Merriman isn't worried about the romance distracting Herbert from the ultimate goal.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Merriman gushed over the couple and said the Chargers are legitimate contenders if the whole squad stays healthy.
Beyond the NFL, Merriman has another big matchup on his radar.
His son Justin's St. Frances Academy team is set to face IMG Academy in November, a game Merriman holds exclusive production rights for.
Merriman is committed to giving high school stars a new spotlight, including his own son, who is drawing interest from major college programs.
He joked that Justin is on track to be even better than he was, and that his son's position choice might be karma for all the hits he delivered to quarterbacks during his playing days.
