Samuel Monroe Jr., the actor best known for his role in "Menace II Society," remains hospitalized in Los Angeles on life support, according to his family.

He has been in a medically induced coma since April, initially battling a severe case of meningitis that developed into MRSA pneumonia.

His wife, Shawna Stewart, told TMZ that his brain continues to swell due to enlarged ventricles that are not holding cerebral fluid, leading to seizures.

Monroe has undergone three brain surgeries, and his left lung has partially collapsed.

Doctors are monitoring his brain activity with CT scans, but they believe he may end up in a vegetative state.

The family is struggling with a very difficult decision about his future care.

As previously reported, Monroe has been fighting for his life for months, requiring multiple blood transfusions and dialysis as his body battles MRSA pneumonia and meningitis.

Stewart says the family, who launched a GoFundMe in April, agrees that Monroe will undergo three to four more CT scans.

Depending on the results, they may have to make a heartbreaking choice about whether to continue life support.
