Realme has officially confirmed a major software shift for its smartphones in India.

The company announced that upcoming devices will no longer ship with Realme UI, signaling a new direction for its software strategy.

Future Realme phones will launch with ColorOS 17, aligning more closely with Oppo's ecosystem.

The decision aims to simplify software development and streamline updates by sharing resources across the Oppo brand family.

During a media meeting, Realme India confirmed the transition but did not specify which model will debut with ColorOS 17.

The software is expected to appear first on upcoming Oppo devices before reaching Realme's next-generation smartphones.

Eligible existing Realme smartphones will receive the ColorOS 17 update as part of their promised software support.

For example, the Realme GT 8 Pro, which launched with Realme UI 7 and a commitment to four Android OS upgrades, will transition to ColorOS 17 before receiving future versions.

For most users, the change will feel seamless because Realme UI already shares many design elements, features, and system apps with ColorOS.

Realme originally launched its early smartphones with ColorOS before introducing Realme UI in 2020.

OnePlus Also Moving to ColorOS

OnePlus has confirmed that eligible smartphones will receive an optional upgrade to ColorOS 17 after its official release.

Existing OnePlus users can choose whether to switch from OxygenOS to ColorOS, and those who upgrade will have the option to roll back to OxygenOS later.

OnePlus explained that adopting a shared software platform will improve update delivery, software quality, and engineering efficiency.

The company also confirmed that existing OnePlus devices will continue receiving scheduled updates, security patches, warranty coverage, and after-sales support despite ending new product launches in Europe and North America.
