Attorney Ben Crump is raising concerns over the disappearance and death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, citing contradictions in the stories being told.
Appearing on ABC News Wednesday night, Crump said there are many unanswered questions, noting, "All we know is Nolan is dead."
Crump explained that the family has concerns about the state of Mississippi investigating the case, especially since Wells was the only Black teen in a group of white friends who could potentially have "culpability."
There are conflicting accounts from witnesses about whether Wells said he was staying behind with a girl or planned to rejoin his friends on the boat for July 4th celebrations.
Suspicions also surround Wells' phone.
His friends allegedly had his cell, and the family discovered messages had been deleted when it was returned.
Crump questioned why investigators found no sign of foul play, despite a video circulating online that appears to show an altercation on the night of Wells' disappearance.
Crump has people on the case interviewing individuals who may have information but no underlying connection or agenda.
As previously reported, Wells' body was found Monday after he disappeared during a Fourth of July trip to Horn Island, Mississippi.
The investigation remains ongoing with many questions still unanswered.
