Rep.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has leveled a serious accusation against Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Greene called Chao a Chinese spy during a recent interview in New York City.
Greene claimed that Chao, who served as Transportation Secretary under President Donald Trump, remained in China to meet with a Communist Chinese leader while McConnell was hospitalized.
The senator was found unresponsive at his home in mid-June and has been in the hospital since.
Greene expressed outrage at McConnell's family for not pushing for his resignation. She specifically criticized Chao for not returning to the U.
S. when McConnell was rushed to the hospital.
“She’s a Communist spy,” Greene said, adding that Republicans are hypocrites for not calling her out.
Greene also condemned the Republican Party for keeping members who are unable to function in office just to maintain the majority.
McConnell has insisted he is fine, but recent public appearances have raised concerns. In one instance, he stopped speaking mid-sentence during a news conference and stood still.
He also tripped and fell while walking through the Russell Senate Office Building, which was caught on video.
