Jermaine Dupri has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Sony, accusing the music giant of underpaying and withholding royalties owed to his record label, So So Def Recordings.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the alleged discrepancies involve a catalog of hit albums, including projects with Mariah Carey, Usher, Kris Kross, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, and others.

The suit claims the issues came to light in 2023 when Sony began issuing new and amended royalty statements.

A subsequent audit in 2025 reportedly uncovered years of accounting errors, missing royalties, and previously unreported earnings.

Alleged Underpayments and Demands

So So Def is demanding approximately $18 million, alleging Sony failed to pay full royalties on releases by Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, and Jagged Edge, leaving the label millions short.

For Mariah Carey and Usher, Dupri claims Sony also underpaid royalties on projects he produced, though the exact amount is still being calculated.
