The biggest surprise of 2023 thus far was definitely Vince McMahon’s ascension to power. With a lot on the line, McMahon bullied his way back into WWE and started the sale. Although at first it was claimed that McMahon had little input with the Creative, individuals soon realized that he is a creature of habit. McMahon was seen running Raw after WrestleMania from the gorilla position after Endeavor acquired control of WWE.
According to a recent source, Backlash was supposed to have the WWE chairman in attendance. Vince McMahon was going to appear backstage at Backlash, Rick Bassman revealed in an interview with Nick Hausman of the Haus of Wrestling. Former Disney executive Rick Bassman has extensive knowledge of professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.
Vince Mc Mahon Was Expected to Be Present at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico
Bassman talked about how he ended up going to Backlash in Puerto Rico during the conversation. He was once questioned if he had ever met Vince McMahon backstage. He claimed that Mr. McMahon wasn’t there, but that he had sent him an email saying he would be there. Bassman, though, got to know the company’s top performers.

No, he wasn t there, he revealed. But I got a really nice email from him Saturday morning saying, Hey, I m not going to make it. But let s, you know, I ll talk to the guys after the meeting. And we ll continue on from there.
I did wind up meeting with the top guys in the company after events. But he was initially scheduled to be part of that, yes.

WWE reported that there was a 28% increase in viewership for the event. This caused the event’s viewership to surpass that of Backlash 2022. 17,944 fans attended the sold-out performance. The event also featured the biggest gate for a WWE show ever staged in Puerto Rico.
