Dwayne Johnson is a huge figure in both Hollywood and WWE. The Rock is revered by his countless millions of admirers around the world. Some professionals in the field, though, couldn’t stand him. The Great One has previously shown his distaste for Vin Diesel in public. The Rock departed the Fast and Furious movie franchise and produced a spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw, as a result of their disagreements on the set of the movie. If you’ve watched any of The Fast and the Furious movies, you’d be aware that the cast in this one is more like a close-knit family.
The Rock’s decision to leave the movie franchise and star in the spinoff wasn’t well received by his F&F co-stars. Particularly Tyrese Gibson, who is well-known for playing Roman Pearce in the movie. The failure of the Walking Tall actor to deliver on Fast and Furious caused F9’s release date to be postponed.
Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson threatened The Rock on social media
As was mentioned, the publication of Hobbs and Shaw caused the release of F9 to be delayed. The release of Fast and Furious 9 was originally scheduled for 2019, however, it was moved to 2020. The Rock’s absence caused the film’s production to slow, which delayed the payment of salaries to F&F’s performers. Gibson then used social media to get personal with The Rock as result.
Gibson criticized the former WWE Champion harshly on social media for leaving. Tyrese criticized The Rock for making the Furious series all about him in one of the several posts.
He penned:
Thanks to The Rock and your producing partner 7 Buck, the Fast and the Furious franchise has become all about YOU.

The Rock was then openly threatened by Gibson in one of his Instagram postings, in which he referred to him as a clown and warned him not to meddle with his family.
Roman Pearce would leave Fast 9 if The Rock ever returned, he added in his statement. Subsequently, Gibson spoke with the producing partner of Johnson. He penned:
You endanger my family’s survival and that of my daughter, while I endanger yours.

During their conversation, Gibson experienced a temporary change of heart. When Hobbs and Shaw were released in theatres in 2019, everything came full circle. The 44-year-old criticized the film’s box office performance. Formerly deleted, Gibson wrote:
Many criticized me for speaking out and called me a hater, therefore I had to pay them my respects for that one thing he tried. It’s obvious that dissolving a family doesn’t have the benefit that one might think it has.

The Relationship Between Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson Has Thawed
Finally, the issue is resolved after Gibson disclosed that he had made amends with The Rock. Gibson said that the conversation with Josh Horowitz lasted for many hours and went quite well in an interview with Stir Crazy.
Gibson even admitted that he was offered the role of the lead in a spinoff but declined because he wanted to stick with the F&F series.
