The Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal will be honored with the AS Sports Award for the sixth time in his career on Tuesday (December 20).
The awards dinner will take place at Madrid’s Palace Hotel at 7:30 PM, and the entire event, including the red carpet, will be streamed live on AS.com, YouTube, and the social media accounts of the AS newspaper.
The Spanish player will be honored for a spectacular 2022 campaign that saw him capture two Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open and the French Open. To add to his impressive resume, Rafael Nadal has achieved a career-high seven runner-up finishes in the ATP World Tour rankings.
Nadal’s most recent appearance was on an exhibition tour with World No. 3 Casper Ruud in Latin America. The fifth and final match of the series took place in Mexico.
With victories in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Bogota (Colombia), Belo Horizonte (Brazil), and Mexico, the Spaniard swept the five-game series, four games to one against the Norwegian’s lone victory in Quito (Ecuador).
