Unlike industrial robots designed for factory floors, the Shiguang S1 is built for daily home use.
It aims to assist families with routine chores and interact naturally with people indoors.
Capabilities and AI Technology
The robot can perform several household tasks, including folding clothes, cooking meals, and clearing the dining table.
It can also engage in conversation with elderly individuals and provide assistance around the house.

A key feature is its ability to continuously learn and adapt to new tasks, making it more flexible than traditional task-specific robots.
GigaBrain says the robot is powered by its self-developed embodied intelligent model, which enables it to understand tasks and respond to different home environments.
Ye Yun, Vice President of R&D at GigaBrain, explained that while factory robots follow fixed instructions, the Shiguang S1 can plan actions independently and react intelligently to changing situations.
The company also announced plans to launch its next-generation model, the GigaBrain 1, in the third quarter of 2026.

Safety and Early Access
To ensure safety, the robot features a compliant control mechanism. If it accidentally touches a person or pet while moving, it immediately stops to reduce injury risk.
Families in Wuhan can now apply to become early 'seed users' through the Shiguang Vision WeChat account or the company's official application page.
The launch highlights China's progress in AI-powered robotics, elderly care technology, and smart home automation.
The robot is designed to assist families with regular household tasks and interact naturally with people inside the home.
