OnePlus may be working on a smartphone display that combines 2K resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, according to a tip from industry insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

The company has already pushed refresh rates higher than most rivals.

The OnePlus 15 features a 1.5K OLED panel with 165Hz, and the upcoming OnePlus 16 is expected to increase that to 185Hz.

Now, the tipster says OnePlus is looking beyond 185Hz.

If 2K OLED panels can achieve 240Hz without sacrificing power efficiency or display quality, the company could reintroduce 2K resolution in its flagship lineup.

Currently, 2K OLED smartphone displays max out at 144Hz.

A 2K 240Hz panel would be a significant leap, though it may not be ready for the OnePlus 16.

The OnePlus 17, expected in 2027, could be the first to offer either a 2K 185Hz or a 2K 240Hz display, the tipster added.

For everyday use like browsing or video streaming, the difference between 120Hz and 240Hz may be subtle.

However, in fast-paced gaming, higher refresh rates can provide smoother visuals and lower input lag.

Competitors are also pushing refresh rates upward.

The Redmi K100 Pro series and iQOO 16, both expected later this year, are rumored to feature displays with up to 185Hz.

OnePlus has not confirmed any plans for a 2K 240Hz display. The information remains speculative until official announcements are made.
