Xiaomi has launched the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro in China, following the Pad 9 Pro Max that debuted at a major event last week.

The two tablets share 3.2K LCD screens, high refresh rates, and Snapdragon chips, but differ in size, power, and price.

Neither model uses Xiaomi's XRING O3 chipset, which sets them apart from the Pad 9 Pro Max.

Shared display and software features

Both tablets use a 3.2K LCD panel with a 3200 x 2136 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio.

The screens support a 144Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, DCI-P3 coverage, HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision.

Xiaomi has also carried over eye-comfort certifications on both, including Circadian Friendly, Flicker-Free, and hardware-level low blue light.

Wet-touch support is included, so the screen still responds when hands are damp.

On the software side, both tablets come with WPS for Pad for office work and CapCut Pro for video editing.

They also support Xiaomi's magnetic pen and a PC-style floating keyboard.

Key differences between the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro

The Pad 9 Pro features a 12.5-inch display, while the standard Pad 9 has an 11.2-inch panel.

Both are 12-bit LCD screens with a 144Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 coverage, and a 3:2 aspect ratio.

The Pro's screen has a brighter 1000 nits peak, compared to 800 nits on the smaller model.

Under the hood, the Pad 9 Pro runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, an octa-core chip built on a 3nm process and clocked up to 3.8GHz, paired with an Adreno GPU.

The Pad 9 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the same processor Xiaomi used on the Pad 8, so the standard model is not a huge leap in raw performance.

The Pad 9 Pro packs an 11,000mAh battery with 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging.

The Pad 9 gets a smaller 9,720mAh cell with 45W charging support.

The Pad 9 Pro is heavier and thicker at 580g and 5.8mm, while the Pad 9 stays notably light at 485g and 5.75mm thin.
