Casio has officially released two new variations of its Baby-G BG-169 watch in the United States.

The black BG-169GD-1 and white BG-169GD-7 are now available through Casio's US storefront for $99.

The two models originally debuted in the Japanese market last month. Their arrival in the US expands the lineup with a retro aesthetic.

Design and Build

The new models lean heavily into a 1990s and early 2000s aesthetic. Casio describes the styling as a nod to the grunge rock scene of that era.

That translates to a muted, matte finish across the resin bands and bezels. Both watches retain the compact, round case shape of the standard BG-169 series.

They also keep the signature metal front protectors over the display. The watches measure 45.9 x 42.6 x 16.4 mm and weigh just 43 grams.

They are designed to fit wrist sizes ranging from 135 to 200 mm. The hardware includes shock-resistant resin construction and a mineral glass display.

Both models offer 200 meters of water resistance, making them suitable for swimming and basic water activities.

Features and Battery

Internally, the watches run on a standard CR1616 battery. Casio estimates it will last for about three years before needing a replacement.

The feature set includes a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, and a white LED backlight with an afterglow function.

It also supports world time across 29 time zones and 30 cities.

Both models include a Telememo function, a pre-smartphone feature that allows users to manually store up to 25 contacts directly on the watch.

Each entry holds an eight-character name and a 12-digit phone number.

There is also a built-in Day Counter that can be programmed to count down to a specific target date.

It supports dates all the way up to December 31, 2049.

In related news, Casio has recently launched a new DW-5600 G-Shock collaboration with a gold-and-black finish.

The company also introduced new premium Frogman and Mudmaster watches built for extreme conditions.
