A new hands-on video has surfaced on Weibo, offering the clearest look yet at the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max before its official debut.
Honor has confirmed the Magic 9 series will launch on September 28, with the lineup reportedly splitting into three models: the Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro, and the Pro Max variant shown in the clip.
The video features the Moss Green finish that had already appeared in teasers, giving a close-up view of the phone's design.
A Redesigned Rear Camera
The most noticeable change is on the back, where Honor has moved away from the circular camera module used on the Magic 8 series.
Instead, the Magic 9 Pro Max combines round camera rings with a large rectangular housing that stretches across the rear panel.
The main rear camera is a 200MP sensor at 1/1.28 inches with an f/1.57 aperture and OIS rated to correct up to 3 degrees of shake.
Behind the periscope lens sits a second 200MP sensor at 1/1.4 inches.
Honor is also bringing its ARRI partnership to the Magic 9 Pro Max, after first debuting it on the Honor Robot Phone.
The company has been sharing camera samples from the device as the launch approaches.
Front and Design Details
Up front, the phone retains the wide pill-shaped cutout that houses the selfie camera and a 3D depth sensor, carried over from the Magic 8.
What's new is the sensor behind it: these are said to be the first Android phones with a square selfie camera sensor.
The screen bezels measure a slim 1mm, and symmetrical stereo speaker grilles run along the top and bottom edges.
On the right side sits Honor's AI button in its latest form, continuing a feature the brand has kept across recent Magic generations.
With the launch date locked in for later this month, more leaks and hands-on footage are expected before Honor makes things official in Beijing.
