Apple has confirmed that iOS 27 will begin rolling out on September 14, bringing a redesigned interface and new system features to compatible iPhones.
The update will arrive as an over-the-air download and can be accessed through Settings > General > Software Update once it is available.
Which iPhones Can Run iOS 27
Apple's compatibility list covers several generations of devices, from the iPhone 11 lineup to its newest models.
The supported devices are the iPhone 17 series, iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, and iPhone SE (2nd generation).
The new visual treatment will be immediately noticeable, but Siri may prove to be the more important part of the release.
Apple is introducing a next-generation version of its assistant that combines its own Foundation Models with Google's Gemini models.
The revamped Siri is designed to handle more conversational requests and maintain context between interactions.
Apple is also turning Siri into a standalone app where users can access previous conversations.
There is a catch, though: iOS 27 compatibility does not guarantee access to every feature.
Some of the new AI capabilities require newer hardware, meaning owners of older supported iPhones may not get the complete Siri experience.
iOS 27 will not be arriving alone.
Apple plans to release iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 on the same September 14 date.
The iOS 27 comes preloaded on the newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo.
