MediaTek has confirmed the launch date for its next flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which is set to debut on September 15 at 2:30 PM local time in China.

This will be the first Pro-branded processor in the Dimensity flagship family, with teasers hinting at improvements in efficiency, gaming, and video recording.

2nm Process and Performance

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to be MediaTek's first 2nm smartphone processor, reportedly using TSMC's second-generation N2P process.

In contrast, the standard Dimensity 9600 is likely to retain a 3nm process and serve as an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9500.

The 2nm process is said to deliver higher performance at the same power consumption while reducing power requirements at comparable performance levels.

Gaming is a major focus, with MediaTek teasing AI-assisted GPU rendering, an upgraded StarSpeed Engine, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

The chipset is also expected to support 4K slow-motion video at 240fps, along with additional tools for content creators.

Expected Specifications and Phones

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is rumored to feature an eight-core CPU with two cores clocked at 4.55GHz, three at 4.35GHz, and three at 3.10GHz.

Graphics could be handled by the Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU.

Early Geekbench results reportedly show the chipset scoring over 4,000 in single-core and 13,000 in multi-core tests on the Vivo X500 Pro Max.

Smartphones expected to use the Dimensity 9600 Pro include the Vivo X500 Pro, Vivo X500 Pro Max, and Oppo Find X10 Pro Max.

MediaTek is expected to reveal more details at its September 15 event.
