A new leak has revealed more details about the Honor Magic 9 Pro's camera setup, covering both front and rear systems.
According to the leak, the device will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (SM8975) chipset.

It will feature a 1:1 square selfie camera, which would make it the first Android phone with this format.
A square sensor offers a wider field of view for selfies and vlogging, eliminating the need to rotate the phone for different orientations.
The front camera setup reportedly borrows some elements from Honor's Robot Phone.

Rear camera specifications
On the rear, the specs match earlier reports: a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture, and 3-degree OIS.
It is paired with a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture.
This aligns with what tipster Digital Chat Station shared in March, when the dual 200MP setup first surfaced.
Honor's ARRI partnership is expected to extend to the Pro model, improving color science and video processing.

The square selfie camera isn't new information; reports in May already pointed to Honor testing a similar sensor for the standard Magic 9.
Oppo was also tipped to be working on the same format for the Find X10 series, but Honor may ship it first.
The tipster also mentioned that Vivo is preparing its own square front camera for next year, suggesting the format could spread across more Chinese phone makers.

The Honor Magic 9 series is expected to launch in China around October, with more details likely to emerge as the date approaches.
