Aaliyah's uncle is now blaming his own son for the singer's tragic death, as the family battles over money in court.
TMZ obtained a lawsuit filed by Jomo Hankerson against his father Barry Hankerson and Blackground Records.

Barry, Aaliyah's uncle and former manager, claims Jomo was paid to coordinate travel for a music video shoot in the Bahamas in August 2001.
He says Jomo "failed in his responsibility" to handle travel plans, leading Aaliyah to take a private jet that crashed, killing everyone onboard.
Barry argues the crash "may have been avoided had [Jomo] followed through on his compensated task of travel coordination."

The uncle also said his relationship with his son was never the same after Aaliyah's death.
Legal Dispute Over Music Rights
Beyond the blame, Jomo claims his dad breached a settlement over music rights for Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, DMX, and Timbaland.

Jomo says he is owed 12% of the money Barry made from these assets, but alleges his father hid money and manufactured expenses to pressure him into accepting less.
He is seeking over $1.2 million in damages.
Barry denies all wrongdoing, claiming the settlement is invalid due to fraud, and also accuses Jomo of threatening to release unreleased Aaliyah music.

Jomo has denied all claims as well. The case is ongoing.
