Apple has introduced two new Mac mini models, each powered by different chips: the M6 and the M5 Pro.
Both retain the compact design from the M4 redesign, but the internal upgrades are significant.

M6 Model: Faster AI and Performance
The M6 chip delivers up to 4x faster AI performance than the M4, with storage and graphics up to 2x faster and CPU speed up 40%.
It features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, each with its own neural accelerator—a first for Mac mini.
The M6 model starts at 16GB RAM, upgradeable to 32GB, with memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s.

M5 Pro Model: For Heavy Workloads
The M5 Pro offers up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU, with per-core neural accelerators for AI tasks.
It supports up to 64GB RAM and 307GB/s bandwidth, enabling larger local AI models and ProRes RAW editing.
Apple claims Blender ray-traced rendering is up to 4.5x faster than an M2 Pro Mac mini, and Affinity image processing over 2x faster.
Connectivity and Design
Both models include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a 2.5 Gb Ethernet port (upgradable to 10 Gb).

The M6 has three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the back, while the M5 Pro gets three Thunderbolt 5 ports, plus HDMI and Ethernet.
The casing is 100% recycled aluminum, and magnets use fully recycled rare earth elements, making the design 50% recycled materials.
Pricing and Availability
The M6 model starts at $899, and the M5 Pro at $1699.
