Vanity Fair has scrapped a planned personal essay by Brittany Romano, the reporter who went viral for her unsettling grin and wink during the Lindsay Clancy murder trial.
A spokesperson for Condé Nast, Vanity Fair's parent company, confirmed the decision to TMZ.

The statement said the outlet was initially interested in Romano's essay about growing up with Clancy, but after clear conflicts with editorial standards and processes, they informed her they would not move forward.

Romano's courtroom behavior sparked backlash on social media, with critics calling her demeanor inappropriate for a trial involving the deaths of three children.
A streamer later caught up with Romano in the parking lot, where she explained her grin was partly for her father, who had told her to smile more on TV.
