Fresh renders of the Galaxy S27 Ultra have surfaced, and they are not winning over fans.

The images, shared by tipster Ice Universe, show a rear design dominated by a large rectangular camera island.

Inside that island, two circular cutouts and a vertical pill sit within a mostly empty plateau.

The layout bears a striking resemblance to the mid-range Honor Win Turbo from earlier this year.

Commenters have expressed disappointment rather than excitement over the apparent shift.

Samsung's Galaxy flagships have been praised in recent years for their minimal camera layouts.

Earlier S27 Ultra renders, featuring a horizontal camera island similar to Pixel devices, were well received.

The new design seems to abandon that minimalist approach.

Ice Universe suggests that internal changes are minimal, with most cameras staying in their current positions.

Only the 5x telephoto moves to the side, which may not justify the larger camera plateau.

The Qi2 magnets are not the culprit either, as the wireless charging coil could be repositioned slightly.

It is unclear if the final product will feature this bulky design.
