Casio has expanded its Pro Trek lineup in the US with the launch of the PRJ01AE-8, priced at $230.
This solar-powered analog watch focuses on practical outdoor features rather than smart capabilities.

The model originally debuted in Japan last month alongside two other PRJ-01 watches.
Design and durability
The PRJ01AE-8 is relatively compact for an outdoor watch, with a 39.1mm case width and 11.6mm thickness.
It weighs just 32 grams and uses bio-based resin for the case, case back, and band.
The urethane wristband tucks its excess length underneath itself, preventing the strap end from catching on sleeves or backpack straps.

A carabiner attachment is included, and the pass-through band design allows you to swap the strap for the carabiner without tools.
This lets you clip the watch to a bag or harness.
Casio also redesigned the crown to prevent snagging or accidental turning.
A rotary guard bezel covers the crown in its default position; rotating it 45 degrees exposes the crown on the lower right side.
Visual indicators on the bezel show whether it is locked or unlocked.

Glowing dial and solar charging
For visibility in the dark, the PRJ01AE-8 features a fully phosphorescent white dial that glows in low light.
Despite the glowing surface, the dial is light-transmissive, allowing light to reach the internal solar panel.
According to Casio, a full charge provides about five months of operation, and it can charge from standard indoor fluorescent lighting.
The watch also offers 100-meter water resistance, mineral glass, a low-battery alert, and accuracy of ±20 seconds per month.
