Jose Iglesias, the former MLB All-Star, is ready to showcase a different side of his talents.
He recently spoke with TMZ Sports about his upcoming Broadway debut, admitting he has no idea what to expect but calling it an incredible honor.

Iglesias, also known as Candelita, is scheduled to become the first Latino MLB player to appear on a Broadway stage.
He will take on the role of the Narrator in "Buena Vista Social Club" starting Aug. 27.
His musical abilities are no secret, especially after his popular Mets anthem "OMG?!" caught the attention of fans.

While he isn't ready to give up baseball, Iglesias sees this as a great way to spend his free time.
"This is something that actually caught me off guard completely," he said. "It's not on my bucket list to do this.
But you know what, when that phone rings and the opportunity [presents itself], it's a must go."

He described the experience as humbling and exciting, made even more special because it's happening in New York, where he played for the Mets in 2024.
Iglesias also mentioned that the show represents Cuba and Latin America well, which made his decision to say yes an easy one.
Despite this new venture, he made it clear that he still wants to play baseball.

He's giving this "side quest" his full attention for the next month and a half, but his focus on the game remains.
