Apple may increase the price of the iPhone 17 series in the coming days, according to a new report from a Chinese leaker.
The tipster, known as Fixed Focus Digital, claims that Apple could announce the price adjustment as early as Monday, August 10.
This comes after Apple quietly raised prices on other products like MacBooks, iPads, and Apple TV 4K in late June, due to rising memory and storage costs.
However, the iPhone 17 lineup has kept its original launch pricing from September 2025, until now.
Production Cuts and Memory Shortages
The leaker also mentioned that Apple might reduce production of current iPhone 17 models by 15–30%.
This move could help free up scarce components, particularly RAM, for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra.
Apple is reportedly struggling to secure enough RAM for its next-generation devices, which are expected to launch in September.
Similar production cuts were seen earlier this year, with reductions of around 15% initially, and larger cuts in some cases.
Raising prices on the current iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and 17 Pro/Max could also help protect profit margins.
Analysts have already suggested that the base iPhone 18 Pro might start at $1,399 or higher, a significant jump from the 17 Pro's $1,099.
Apple is expected to launch only the pricier Pro models and the Ultra this fall, with a cheaper iPhone 18 possibly arriving in spring 2027.
As of now, official Apple Store pricing remains unchanged, and the base iPhone 17 is still available in the $725–$799 range depending on the retailer and configuration.
If Apple does implement a mid-cycle price increase, it would be unusual for the iPhone line, but the combination of known memory shortages and production adjustments makes it plausible.
For those considering an iPhone 17, it might be wise to make a purchase sooner rather than later, just in case prices go up.
