Redmi has quietly launched the Redmi 17 5G in China, its latest budget smartphone.
The device emphasizes long battery life, a large high-refresh-rate display, and modern connectivity, running Xiaomi's newest software.

Display and performance
The Redmi 17 5G sports a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD with a waterdrop notch and 1600 x 720 resolution.
The panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, DC dimming, and 800 nits peak brightness.
It also carries TÜV Rheinland triple eye protection and supports Wet Touch 2.0 for better responsiveness with wet fingers.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the 6nm Unisoc T8300 octa-core processor, clocked up to 2.2GHz.

Memory options include 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, paired with 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A dedicated microSD slot allows storage expansion.
Battery and camera
The device packs a 6,300mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims retains its health for up to four years.
Charging support includes 15W wired, 7.5W reverse wired, and PD/QC protocols.
For photography, there's a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.
The phone also features 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a virtual proximity sensor.

Notably, the spec sheet does not mention a fingerprint sensor. The device measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 8.15mm and weighs 210 grams.
Price and availability
The Redmi 17 5G is now on sale in China.
The 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at 999 Yuan (~$150), while the 6GB + 128GB version costs 1,199 Yuan (~$180).
It comes in Cold Mist Blue, Star Rock Black, and Feather Mist White.
