A growing number of Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra owners are reporting severe battery drain and overheating after installing the latest July security patch.
Complaints have surfaced on the Samsung Community forum, Reddit, and tech sites over the past few days.

One S25 Ultra user said their battery dropped from 85% at midnight to nearly 5% by midday with only two hours of screen-on time.
The same user also noticed the phone losing 5–7% per hour while idle.
An S24 Ultra owner reported that their phone used to last a full day, but now battery life is noticeably worse after the update.
Many users also report their phones running much hotter than usual, even during light use or while idle.

Some have observed slower charging that persists despite trying various fixes.
The reports appear concentrated on the Ultra models of the S24 and S25, with the July patch firmware frequently mentioned.
Not every user is affected, but the volume of similar complaints points to a software issue rather than random hardware failures.

Samsung has not yet issued an official statement acknowledging the problem or confirming a fix.
Affected owners are largely waiting for the next update in hopes of a resolution.
Some users have tried standard battery-saving measures, such as limiting background apps and checking for rogue processes, but many say these steps have made little difference.
Battery and heat problems after a major security patch are not uncommon on Android, and Samsung has resolved similar issues with follow-up updates in the past.
