Sharon Stone is making major changes to her health regimen, giving up both marijuana and a medication prescribed after her 2001 stroke.
The 'Casino' star told Variety she decided to stop taking her stroke medication against her doctor's advice, calling the withdrawal process extremely difficult.

“It was like going off of f***ing heroin. I was sick as a frigging dog for four and a half months,” she recalled.
After getting off the medication, Stone turned her attention to quitting cannabis. She said she became ill when she stopped smoking weed.
Stone believes the sickness stemmed from additives in modern cannabis products. “It’s not like you’re pulling it out of the ground anymore.

It’s not like when we were kids. I got pretty sick for a month,” she explained.
She added that her neurologist warned her about the dangers, saying, “Sharon, I’ve had people dying in the emergency room from marijuana.”
Stone suffered a massive stroke and a nine-day brain hemorrhage in 2001, forcing her to relearn how to walk, talk, and read.

The near-death experience changed her outlook on life.
Now drug-free, Stone says she is focusing on her creative pursuits, including painting and returning to modeling.
She also plans to star on Broadway and has other ideas in development.

“In the past year, I’ve reclaimed my life,” she said.
