Chinese audio brand Moondrop has introduced the Edge 2, the latest iteration of its wireless over-ear headphones. The new model is now available for pre-order in China.

Priced at 499 yuan (approximately $70), the Edge 2 offers a 24.4% improvement in noise cancellation over the original Edge.

Moondrop claims the headphones block 95.5% of ambient noise below 1kHz.

For voice calls, the Edge 2 uses AI-powered environmental noise cancellation (ENC) with beamforming microphones and a built-in NPU chip.

This setup aims to keep the user's voice clear even in noisy environments.

The headphones come in two color options: black and white, and black and gray. Orders are currently being taken through JD.

Specifications and Features

The Edge 2 is equipped with a 40mm dynamic driver featuring a composite diaphragm — a wooden dome paired with a flexible suspension edge.

Moondrop says this combination, along with a high-flux neodymium magnet and an ultra-lightweight CCAW voice coil, keeps distortion low while delivering rich sound.

On the wireless side, the headphones support LHDC V5 for high-resolution audio streaming and are also compatible with LDAC.

Both codecs offer significantly better audio quality than standard Bluetooth codecs.

Moondrop promises up to 50 hours of battery life when connected via Bluetooth.

For wired use, the Edge 2 supports USB audio with a “zero-latency” mode, suitable for gaming or video editing where audio sync is critical.

The Edge 2 includes capacitive wear detection, which automatically pauses playback when the headphones are removed and resumes when they are put back on.

This feature can be toggled on or off through the Moondrop app.

The app also provides a full DSP interface with a professional-grade graphical equalizer.

Additionally, there is an online tuning community where users can download preset configurations or upload their own.

The headband uses a stainless steel telescopic hinge made with MIM powder metallurgy and CNC engraving. The ear pads are non-parallel, filled with memory foam, and are user-replaceable.
