Jose Alvarado narrates an incident from a Duke-Georgia Tech clash
The 6-footer recently participated in JJ Redick’s podcast. The 2023 Rising Stars Game MVP revealed recounted a funny story from a Duke-Georgia Tech matchup from four years ago. Alvarado claimed that he believed he had a free layup. Zanos, much to his amazement, suddenly appeared and whacked the ball with both of his hands.

He attended Duke when I attended Georgia Tech in college. When I ran back door and believed I had a free layup, he was protecting me. The next thing I knew, he jumped and blocked it with two hands. Alvardo said, “I suppose his face is at the rim.”

Eventually, Jose playfully confessed to detesting the then-Blue Devil superstar.
“I wasn’t a big fan after that. I worry that Ah Z won’t make the league. Then, little did you know, I was on his team. He is among the very best. He has a lot of my support.
