According to La Capital de Rosario, Messi left around 10:00 pm (0100 GMT) with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, and boys Mateo, Thiago, and Ciro.
Two days after scoring twice to lead Argentina to a World Cup victory against France in Qatar on December 18, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner landed in Rosario, about 310 kilometers north of Buenos Aires.
On Tuesday at about 1400 local time (GMT +1), the private jet will land in the French capital.
PSG coach Christophe Galtier stated last week that he anticipated Messi, who spent Christmas and New Year’s with his family, would return on “January 2 or 3.”
Because of this, the 35-year-old was unavailable for the league’s top team’s first two games after the World Cup.
Nonetheless, he should be fit to play in Friday’s French Cup match between PSG and Chateauroux, reuniting him with French colleague Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat trick in the World Cup final but still lost on penalties to Argentina after a 3-3 draw.
At the international airport in Rosario, many fans saw Messi depart, although they were kept well away from the striker and his family by a heavy security presence.
This was Argentina’s third World Cup win overall and they’re first since 1986 when they were guided to victory by the late great Diego Maradona.
