One of the top teams in the Western Conference is the Dallas Mavericks. None other than Luka Doncic, who wears jersey No. 77 for them, is mostly responsible for their achievement.
This season, Luka Doncic has been playing some MVP basketball, scoring 34 points, pulling down 9 rebounds, and dishing out 9 assists a game. Even though he put on incredible performances, analysts still think it might not be enough.
The Mavs are being urged by many to help Doncic. Specifically, a genuine second choice. JJ Redick, a former Mavericks player who is now a pundit, disagrees.
JJ Redick suggests that the Mavericks do not need to get Luka Doncic any help
This season, one of the myths circulating about the Dallas Mavericks is that Luka Doncic is playing alone. Over the past five games, El Matador has been on fire, scoring 60 points against the Knicks and 51 points against the Spurs in two explosive outings.
It is reasonable to assume that Luka is carrying the Mavs with him in such good shape. Many fans had urged Mark Cuban and the front office to support Doncic as a result of this. Some people, though, disagree. JJ Redick specifically mentioned recently on his podcast that the young guard already has a strong supporting cast.
Jj Redick Chose Retirement Over Playing with Luka and The Mavericks
JJ Redick was exchanged from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Mavericks in 2021. Redick was astonished and upset by the action because he had opposed it.
In the end, he made the decision to retire rather than compete for $16 million with Luka Doncic and the Mavs.

Of course, JJ was more upset with the Pels than the Mavs. In the end, retiring was his only option because he wanted to spend more time with his family in Brooklyn.
