Kyrie Irving abruptly left yet another team after the Brooklyn Nets refused to move him a few days ago. Irving only recently claimed that no one in the Nets locker room was only partially committed to the club, making that assertion in January of this year.
The former Cavalier wanted out, though, as Kevin Durant recovered from his MCL sprain and Sean Marks resisted signing Irving to a 4-year contract extension. It was claimed that the contract extension had conditions, one of which was dependent on capturing the championship this year.
The Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers were the two biggest teams to have their names firmly placed into the Kyrie sweepstakes. The latter got enormous traction after LeBron James made hints that he wanted his old teammate on Twitter and by saying that having Kyrie was a no-brainer.
LeBron James contemplates over Kyrie Irving trade to Mavs
The Los Angeles Lakers’ two first-round picks, Lonnie Walker IV, Russell Westbrook, and other players were part of the package that was said to be used to acquire Kyrie Irving. However, it appears that this was insufficient because the Mavericks rushed in and acquired Irving in a trade.
Spencer Dinwiddie, a former Net himself, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2027 and 2029 SRP, as well as an unprotected 2029 FRP, were all members of the Mavs. LeBron James took to Twitter a few hours after Shams and Woj first announced this transaction to share three words:
Maybe It s Me
LeBron James (@KingJames) February 6, 2023
The King would undoubtedly claim that his tweet had nothing to do with the Kyrie Irving scandal if pressed about it, but it is obvious that he wanted to work with him and Rob Pelinka was unable to reach an agreement.
Teams Are Preparing for A Kevin Durant Trade Request
Teams are focusing on Kevin Durant as the bigger fish now that the Kyrie Irving turmoil has subsided and he is a Dallas Maverick. Even when Irving was available, many clubs across the NBA started to query the Nets about his availability.
The Phoenix Suns are ready to make an offer for KD should he become a trade candidate. A big offer from the Suns would prompt the Slim Reaper to ask out as well as they were a franchise that Durant had on his list of top choices when he originally approached them this past winter.
As Nets fans continue to lose their minds, the Mavericks acquire Kyrie Irving from the team, making them the NBA’s best backcourt.
The statement “Maybe It Was Me” was made by LeBron James in a cryptic tweet after Kyrie Irving decided to leave the Lakers for Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
