The professional rally racer Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident in Utah on Monday.
A call regarding an accident in the Mill Hollow area was received around 2 p.m. local time, according to the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth Block, a 55-year-old man from Park City, Utah, was riding a snowmobile down an incline when it flipped over and landed on top of him. The sheriff’s office claimed in a Facebook post that he was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
It went on to say that while Mr. Block had been traveling with others, he had been by himself at the time of the accident.
The sheriff’s deputies, together with Search and Rescue, Utah State Parks, and the United States Forest Service, all arrived on the scene to deal with the situation.
The sheriff’s office noted, “We are saddened to hear of Kenneth’s passing and our sympathies are with his family and friends so terribly touched.”
“Ken was a true original, a trailblazer, and a legend. The most crucial roles are those of a father and husband. Hoonigan Industries, an auto media and apparel firm Block co-founded, expressed their sadness at his passing on Instagram.
Block’s Gymkhana videos (car stunt videos) frequently receive 50 million views and he has 1.92 million subscribers. He also competed frequently in ESPN’s X Games rally events.
