On the NBA court, Joel Embiid has never been shy to insult his rivals. He’s been into a fight with almost every single Eastern Conference title contender, including Eric Bledsoe, Marcus Smart, and John Collins.
But he hasn’t faced the Brooklyn Nets, who have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on their roster, in the playoffs. However, once they do play one another during the regular season, it seems like the game is taking place in the playoffs.
This is what happened during the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets’ matchup a couple of nights ago at the Wells Fargo Center. James Harden playing against his former team, the Nets, and Ben Simmons visiting the Sixers’ home arena to a chorus of boos made for quite the dramatic matchup.
Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant got into it on Twitter
Given how much exposure Joel Embiid received from the game, he served as the primary focus of the narrative. Kevin Durant tweeted during the game that he missed teasing Joel Embiid because he wasn’t playing because of his sprained MCL. Then he would commend Nic Claxton for his magnificent block on the former top choice.
On one occasion, Joel would draw a foul while driving to the basket, giving him an and-1 opportunity. After the created bucket, he would perform the traditional “suck it” celebration made popular by the wrestling team known as D-Generation-X, which consisted of Shawn Michaels and Triple-H.
