The relationship between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers front office has long been rocky, as recently revealed by GM Brian Gutekunst. As the years have passed, Rodgers’ relationship with the Packers has grown more and more tarnished, and in recent years, every offseason has been a waiting game to see whether he would depart or not.
Rodgers threatened to skip training camp two years prior. He has ripped into the Packer’s executive management in public conferences for not honoring his requests and keeping the players he wants close to him.
This year, Rodgers wanted a trade from the Packers to the New York Jets after the dam finally broke. Now that the demand has been made public, all that is left to do is wait for a resolution between the two parties.
A deal between the #Packers and #Jets to swap Aaron Rodgers for two high draft picks is taking shape. But one lingering hangup is whether the Packers will agree to some draft give back protection if Rodgers doesn t play in the 2024 season.

Brian Gutekunst Tried to Contact Aaron Rodgers, but The MVP Refused
Many speculations have been circulating about what transpired since the NFL season finished and how precisely Rodgers’ request for a trade was handled. We are aware that Rodgers entered a state of darkness and that when he emerged, he declared that he had made up his mind to retire by 90%.
Additionally, according to Rodgers, after the 2022 season, the Packers made it apparent they wanted him back while also shopping him around, which he later discovered. Nevertheless, according to GM Brian Gutekunst, Rodgers never participated in any trade discussions and rebuffed repeated attempts by the team to get in touch with him.
Brian Gutekunst said he tried to contact Aaron Rodgers “many times” this offseason to discuss how he fit in the Packers’ future.
“Our inability to reach him or for him to respond in any way — I think at that point … I had to do my job.”

The Packers are all attempting to move on and close a transaction as soon as possible, including GM Gutekunst. According to reports, Rodgers’ 90% retirement claim is the only thing stopping it since the Jets want a second-round selection back.
Skip Bayless Is Living for All the Drama
I LOVED every word that came out of Gutekunst’s mouth yesterday. He went scorched earth and put it all on Aaron Rodgers, who I have always said is a master manipulator. More @undisputed, now on FS1. https://t.co/Fpsa4WA8PB

Skip Bayless, a well-known opponent of Aaron Rodgers, adored what general manager Gutekunst had to say. He was happy that GM Gutekunst had called Rodgers out and exposed him.
