Huawei's next-generation tri-fold smartphone is set to launch on September 7, and pre-orders in China have already revealed key specifications.

The Mate XT 2 comes in four configurations, all featuring 16GB of RAM.

Storage options include 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, with the top-tier model bundling a stylus and a privacy display.

The first three variants are available in Obsidian Black, White, and Purple, while the 16GB+2TB edition is exclusive to Purple.

Design and Features

The Mate XT 2 introduces a new 'Wing Fold' architecture, where the two secondary panels fold inward to protect the main display.

A dedicated outer display allows for quick tasks like calls and payments without unfolding the device.

The phone measures just 3.5mm at its thinnest point when unfolded, and the hinge and screens have been reinforced for durability.

The outer display features a pill-shaped cutout for the front camera, supporting 3D face recognition and face-based payments.

On-device heart-rate monitoring is also expected, along with HarmonyOS 7 enhancements for multitasking on the large screen.

The chipset remains unconfirmed, with rumors pointing to either the Kirin 9030S or a new Kirin 9050-series processor.

Pricing has not been announced, but given the first-generation Mate XT's premium positioning, the new model is likely to be expensive.
