Bad Wolves guitarist AJ Rebollo has announced his departure from the heavy metal band, citing the recent release of their cover of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' as the reason.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Rebollo explained that he believes the record label, Better Noise Music, acted with 'ill intent' by releasing the song just days after Parton's death.
Parton passed away on Tuesday after a brief battle with cancer in a Tennessee hospital.
Rebollo said Parton was originally supposed to contribute vocals to the metal version of 'Jolene', but her death prevented that from happening.
As a result, the band wanted to scrap the project, but the label released it anyway despite their objections.
Although the label is donating some proceeds to Parton's Imagination Library, Rebollo said he 'can't help but feel there is ill intent behind the decision to release the song.'
He concluded by saying he holds no ill will toward those involved in the decision and enjoyed his time in the band, but 'this is a decision I just have to make.'
Rebollo called the release the 'final nail in the coffin' for his tenure with Bad Wolves.
