Samsung appears to be preparing its entry into the over-ear headphone market. Recent code discoveries in the Galaxy Wearable app reveal icons for a device codenamed "Galaxy H1."

The icons show over-ear headphones in white, gray, and black, with ear cushions available in gray or green.

The design features a wide headband reminiscent of Apple's AirPods Max, while the thicker ear cups resemble Sony's WH-1000XM6.

The final product name will likely differ from the internal codename. A launch in spring 2027 is currently expected, though nothing is confirmed.

Expected Features and Specs

Specific hardware details remain scarce.

However, it's reasonable to expect Bluetooth 6.0, active noise cancellation, ambient sound modes, AI assistant support, and Auto Switch for seamless device transitions.

One notable possibility is Samsung's Seamless Ultra-High Quality (SSC UHQ) codec, which can theoretically deliver 24-bit/96 kHz audio at bitrates up to 2.3 Mbit/s with compatible Galaxy phones.

In practice, it often compresses more for connection stability.

Longer battery life than typical Galaxy Buds is also anticipated.

Samsung's History with Over-Ear Headphones

Samsung released the "Level On" headphones in 2015, officially positioned as on-ear. Many retailers and users described them as over-ear due to their design.

Whether the upcoming Galaxy headphones are seen as a true first or a modern follow-up to the Level series will depend on Samsung's positioning.

The project is still in early development, so specs, pricing, and positioning could change before the official announcement.
