Andrew Gillum, the former Democratic nominee for Florida governor, was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia when he was arrested in Alabama last week, according to an incident report.
Police pulled Gillum over on U. S.
Highway 98 near Walmart Drive in Daphne after observing him driving erratically.
During the stop, officers reported finding 3 grams of methamphetamine, 8 pre-rolled marijuana joints, 4 cut straws, 3 pipes, and a bong.
Gillum was charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
This is not the first time Gillum has been involved in a drug-related incident.
In 2020, he and another man were found disoriented at the Mondrian Hotel in South Beach, Florida.
Police discovered pill bottles and meth at the scene, but prosecutors declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence linking the drugs directly to Gillum or the other man.
Gillum was the Democratic candidate in the 2018 Florida governor's race, losing to Republican Ron DeSantis by a narrow margin of about 30,000 votes.
