Rep. Tom Kean Jr. has finally broken his silence after disappearing from Congress for nearly four months.

On Tuesday, the New Jersey Republican took the House floor to explain his 116-day absence, revealing he has been dealing with severe depression.

Kean stated he took time off on the orders of his doctor, addressing the mystery that had puzzled colleagues and constituents alike.

He vanished from Washington in early March, missing more than 100 House votes. His office offered only vague updates about a "personal health issue."

The lack of details sparked mounting concern from constituents, political insiders, and even members of his own party.

Upon his return to Capitol Hill, Kean was greeted by a throng of reporters but remained silent as he walked to the House floor, holding his comments for his speech.

Last week, he was spotted outside his New Jersey home for the first time in months, telling reporters he planned to return and promised to be "fully transparent" once back in Washington.
