Huawei's HarmonyOS 6 is gaining significant traction.
Independent data from Wonder Toolbox reveals the operating system has now been installed on over 70 million devices, reaching approximately 70.1 million.
This milestone comes shortly after Huawei's Developer Conference (HDC 2026) on June 12, where Executive Director Yu Chengdong reported 66 million installations.
The rapid increase highlights growing user acceptance.
At the same event, Yu noted that the broader open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem has surpassed 1.3 billion devices.
This includes smartphones, tablets, PCs, wearables, smart home products, cars, and IoT devices.
The achievement is significant for Huawei, which has been developing an independent software path after US sanctions cut off access to Google services.
Recent versions like HarmonyOS Next have moved away from Android compatibility toward a fully self-developed architecture.
At HDC 2026, Huawei also previewed HarmonyOS 7, focusing on AI, agent-based intelligence, and spatial computing.
Earlier in 2026, HarmonyOS 5 and 6 together were approaching tens of millions of devices, with a year-end target of over 100 million.
Analysts attribute the rapid adoption to strong user satisfaction, a growing developer community, and an expanding app ecosystem.
In China, HarmonyOS has become the second-largest smartphone OS by key metrics.
Huawei's tight hardware-software integration has been a key driver. While most growth remains domestic, the company has hinted at expanding overseas availability and app support.
The 70 million figure for HarmonyOS 6 signals that Huawei's software strategy is yielding results.
